Genesis 12-15, Ps 147, Mark 5

Genesis 12-15: Calling Abraham to produce a special people, God does not create ideal living conditions for him. Bringing him to the Promised Land, God does not immediately give it to him but promises to do so only after 400 years. Soon, there is a drought and famine. Going to Egypt in search of bread, Abraham faces temptation. In the next chapter, we can see the story of the conflict with Lot, in which Abraham acts in faith.
Chapter 14 narrates the story of war and the help Abraham provides to Lot. In Chapter 15, God confirms His promises to Abraham by establishing the Covenant.
From this, three lessons emerge:

 • A life of faith does not mean the absence of problems. God uses the ability to live amid problems to build up trust in Him.

 • A life of faith does not mean the perfection of believers. Facing difficulties, they do not always act in faith but become stronger, even when things don't go well.

 • A life of faith is a consistent path of perfecting faith led by the Lord.
