Genesis 21-23, Ps 107, Mark 8

Genesis 21-23: Faith is always expressed in actions. That is its essence. By trusting God, we do what He desires, thus entering into harmony with Him. The culmination of faith in Abraham's life was God's command to sacrifice his son, the promised son. Abraham goes ahead with faith, believing that God will raise Isaac. The promise of blessing to Abraham's descendants and through them to all the nations of the earth is revealed as an expression of his faith (Genesis 22:17-18).
Psalm 106: The psalm calls for praising the Lord because His mercy endures forever, reaching all people in all times and circumstances. Regardless of our circumstances, no matter how difficult, there is always a manifestation of God's mercy. We need to learn to see it and focus our attention on it. Even when everything is falling apart around us, the mercy of the Lord has evident manifestations.
Mark 8: One of the most significant principles of life with Christ is that obtaining true, whole life in Christ is possible only through renouncing life for oneself (Mark 8:34-36).
