Ezekiel 46-48; John 16
The prince mentioned in these chapters is not Christ. Most likely, he is a specially appointed man from the line of David who will manage the administration in the Millennial Kingdom. He will offer sacrifices to the Lord, setting an example of piety and worship.
The water flowing from the temple illustrates several points. First, the change in the landscape of Israel corresponds to the description of Christ’s second coming in Zechariah 14:8. This will lead to a transformation of the Dead Sea; with an abundance of fresh water, it will become habitable. Second, the water flowing from the temple was a standard image for many cities at that time, which were often built around springs. Third, this will symbolically foreshadow the arrangement of the new Jerusalem on the new earth and new heaven (Rev. 22:1-2).
John 16
As Jesus prepares to leave His disciples, He warns them of the persecutions they will face for His name’s sake. Yet, in all of this, Christians have a comfort greater than even Christ’s physical presence: “But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you” (John 16:7).
Every Christian has the incredible privilege of close fellowship with God through the Holy Spirit who lives in us. The Spirit testifies to us about Christ, directing our inner gaze to the Gospel—“He will glorify Me because it is from Me that He will receive what He will make known to you” (John 16:14). The Holy Spirit will transform our prayer life (John 16:24) and fill our hearts with supernatural peace (John 16:33).
